Your friendships are not our business model
BestFriend is local-first: by default, everything you write is stored only on your own phone. We don't sell data, we don't share it with advertisers, and there is no algorithm ranking your friends. Read exactly what is stored where — in plain language.
Questions
Do I need an account?
No. Launch the app and everything is available. An account is only needed if you want the optional end-to-end-encrypted cloud backup and multi-device sync.
Does it work offline?
Yes, fully. BestFriend is local-first — your data lives on your device, and every feature works without a connection.
Do my friends need the app?
No. You can add anyone manually. If you share your profile link, a friend who installs BestFriend gets your birthday and favorite activities automatically — no signup on either side.
What permissions does it ask for?
Contacts (optional — for quickly adding friends), photos (optional — for avatars), and location (optional, city-level only — for city sharing). You can deny all of them and still use everything.
What does it cost?
BestFriend is free on the App Store. Android is coming soon.
