Speak. Keep the words.
Hansel turns speech into text on your Mac, with local Parakeet recognition.
Made for your Mac
For Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 15 or later. Hansel 1.0.37 is available as a free direct download.
Dictate without an account
All local Hansel features are free without an account or membership, including dictation, encrypted history, Your Words and voice shortcuts. There are no membership quantity limits on custom words or shortcuts. Valid shortcut-trigger rules still apply. Microphone access lets you record; accessibility access supports global shortcuts and inserting text into other apps.
Recognition stays on your Mac
Download the speech model once, then recognize speech locally with Parakeet. Model downloads, updates and optional account or membership checks need internet access. Text you insert, copy or export can be handled by other apps.
Hansel provides local-history export and deletion controls. Read the privacy information for local storage, accounts and your choices.
Optional online services
An optional shared Odd membership is planned for device sync, cloud storage backup and premium AI models. These future services are not available yet. Planned pricing is $5.95/month or $47/year, saving 34.2% compared with twelve monthly payments. Checkout is not available.
